Firstlight
Do you feel shame or regret when you consider an area of your life, wondering, “How can I be a true follower of Jesus and be unable to stop this harmful behavior?” When we turn to something other than God for relief from pain, even we, as Christians, can find ourselves repeating behaviors until they become compulsive and damaging. Whether the behavior is compulsive shopping, overeating, alcoholism, addiction to prescription meds or other chemicals, or constantly thinking about another person's destructive behavior, the truth of Jesus’ saving grace can be found in community with other Christians who are seeking freedom from these things.
Firstlight is a healing ministry that merges the practical wisdom of the Twelve Steps with the spiritual truths of the Bible. After a large-group time of story, teaching or worship, gender-specific break-out groups allow for safe and confidential discussion of how Jesus can help us work through our addictive behaviors. This community will help you recognize the truth that although humanity is broken, Jesus, like the first light of day, entered our darkness so that we could follow him into freedom and transformation. The Widows Well
Historically, a well has been a place where women have gathered in community and could draw not only water but encouragement from one another. Here, widows can come together in a safe and nurturing environment that will allow them to continue to grow and learn in this season of life. It’s a place where women can say the name of their late husband and feel that others understand what it feels like to lose someone so close. This group meets offsite, contact Sheryl for details on the location.

Moving Beyond Your Past
Many of us grew up without good role models to show us how to live and love the way Jesus did. In its place, we learned patterns of behavior that can cause us pain not only in our relationships, but also in our spiritual life. The goal of this group is to move beyond this past in an environment of honest safe relationships in a faith community. We also read and discuss various books by well-known Christian authors. Contact Dennis for more information.
Every other Mon, 7-9pm
This group is closed for the year; check back in August 2012.
